The residency training program combines didactic instruction, conferences, research, and clinical experience across affiliated hospitals. Residents receive comprehensive education in every major area of modern otolaryngology.

Professional Development

Throughout residency, trainees receive the guidance and experience needed to develop confidence in clinical practice while building the skills required to become effective educators, researchers, and lifelong learners.

Resident Work Hours

The Department of Otolaryngology strictly follows ACGME resident duty-hour requirements, including the 80-hour weekly work limit. To comply with continuous-duty standards, residents are relieved from clinical duties on the morning following an overnight in-house call.

Call Coverage

Call responsibilities are assigned by the chief resident. At-home call is permitted for residents who live within 20 minutes of the assigned hospital.

Typical Call Schedule

• PGY-2: Approximately 1 in 4 call
• PGY-3: Approximately twice per month
• PGY-4: Approximately once per month
• PGY-5: Back-up call coverage
