Virginia Ramachandran Student Grant Award (American Tinnitus Association)
Virginia Ramachandran, M.S.W., an Au.D./Ph.D. graduate student received a $10,000 research grant award from the American Tinnitus Association (ATA) in 2007. The research proposal, entitled "Mechanisms Underlying Acoustic Masking of Tinnitus", will examine responses of neural correlates of tinnitus to acoustic stimulation in an animal model of tinnitus. The ATA is a primary national organization dedicated to curing tinnitus through advanced research and services and serves as a major source of funding for tinnitus research.
Jonathan Dunford Best Poster Award (Del Harder Foundation)
Jonathan Dunford, a Research Assistant, received a Best Student/Novice Poster award at the 2008 annual research day sponsored by the Del Harder Foundation. This award came with a $250 check. His poster was entitled "Tonotopic properties in the inferior colliculus following multichannel electrical stimulation of the dorsal cochlear nucleus of rats".
Jessica Ouyang - Student Grant Award (American Association of Nurse Anesthetists)
Jessica Ouyang, C.R.N.A., M.S., Ph.D. candidate, has received a student grant award from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Foundation in 2009. The award carries $10,000 for conducting a research project entitled "Impact of isoflurance and sevoflurance on cortical activity: in vivo multi-channel electrophysiology studies and implications in monitoring consciousness".
